The University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) Open College has purchased and installed a new electronic Student Management System (SMS) software and was launched on the Friday 6th of December 2014.
The software is called EnrolPro Student Management System which was supplied by New Zealand based software company called Z&M Numerics Limited. The software was certified by the New Zealand Government Ministry of Education and has over twenty(20) client schools in New Zealand.
During the launching ceremony, Pro-VC-Planning and Development and Acting Executive Director-Mr.Vincent Mailabe, said that the SMS will greatly improve the services provided to students particularly those enrolled in the Certificate in Tertitiary and Community Studies (CTCS) certificate program. The SMS will automate the management of student registration, fees, assessment and certification processes.
Starting Semester 1, 2014, all students will be registered using the new SMS. It is anticipated, the new system will bring some improvement and efficiency during the peak Registration Period during the beginning of the year.
